Up till recent times, gas mileage was never an issue for anyone buying trucks. But with the dip in the sale of trucks, this factor gained more importance. In the contemporary scenario, the importance of truck gas mileage has witnessed an unprecedented increase.
Today companies are constantly looking for trucks that can offer them better mileage.

It is the rising costs of gas that pushed truck buyers to look for trucks that could offer the required gas mileage. To serve the need of truck buyers, truck makers across the world are taking strong steps to improve the fuel economy of their products.

Though there are several trucks that far above average in terms of gas mileage. But there are the top five that fare a lot better in comparison to others. The EPA takes some prime factors into account to give the fuel efficiency rating of a particular vehicle. These factors are the transmission of the vehicle and the level of popularity it enjoys amidst buyers.

Calculation of gas mileage ranking is done on the basis of the city mpg rating and the highway mps rating. While the city mpg rating forms 55 percent of the criterion, the highway mpg rating takes up 45 percent of the criterion.

Talking of the top five trucks that offer the best gas mileage, here’s a breakdown of the 2012 Best and Worst Pickup Trucks when ranked by fuel efficiency:
